Beer bottles for road
building
Feasts are one of the main attractions on the island during
summer. The other morning while passing by Zebbug square,
after a very nice feast celebrated throughout the week, I
noticed thousands of beer bottles on the ground.
Lately we heard in the news that glass will be crushed and
recycled to be used in new roads under construction.
It might be a good idea
to introduce a scheme for band clubs or other NGOs that
organise such activities, giving a financial incentive
according to the number of beer bottles collected.
The environment would benefit and these organisations would
be helped financially, helping to keep our culture alive.
